ATMW Lie Groups (2015) - Speakers and Syllabus

The workshop will provide an introduction to representation theory of semisimple Lie Groups.  While the representation theory of SL(2,R) will be dealt with in some detail, in the case of general semisimple groups the aim is at presenting a broad overview of the subject.  An exposition of the connection between representations of the group and that of its Lie algebra will be followed by an analysis of the principal series representation. One of the important results of the theory to be discussed is the imbedding of an irreducible Harish Chandra module in a pricinpal series representation.  The last few talks will be an overview of Discrete Series and Plancherel theorem.

Research scholars and faculty interested in attending the workshop may apply online for participation.  The last date for receipt of online application is 9th March, 2015.
