How to Reach IIT Ropar

IIT Ropar is located in Rupnagar (Ropar), Punjab, approximately 60 km from Chandigarh. Below are the different ways to reach the institute:

By Air

The nearest airport is Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh (IXC), about 55 km from IIT Ropar.

  • You can take a taxi or cab (Uber/Ola) from the airport to IIT Ropar (approx. 1.5 hours). Approximate fare Rs. 1600 (+GST).

By Train

The nearest railway station is Rupnagar Railway Station (RPAR), located about 6 km from IIT Ropar.

  • Rupnagar(RPAR) has direct train connections from Delhi, Ambala, and Chandigarh.

  • To reach the campus, you can take an auto-rickshaw or cab from the railway station (or from the Ropar bustand). Approximate fare is Rs. 150 (+GST).

By Road

  • From Chandigarh: Take a bus from ISBT Chandigarh (sector-43) to Ropar or taxi via NH205 (approx. 1.5 hours). The approximate fare is Rs. 80 for the bus and Rs. 1600 (+GST) for taxi.

  • From New Delhi: Take a bus or taxi via NH44 and NH205 (approx. 5-6 hours). 

  • Buses from ISBT Chandigarh (Sector-43) to Ropar bus stop. Buses from ISBT Chandigarh (Sector-43)to Ropar are available frequently.
