In this school, we will learn the basic tools of linear algebra and multivariable calculus and use them to study classical matrix groups and geometry of surfaces. Learning these topics are the first steps to pursue research in the area of algebra,analysis and geometry. Through these topics we will discuss some questions of current interests to get a flavour of ongoing research in these areas. We will also learn to use software like Sage for computations.

Our intention is to promote mathematics in north-east and improve quality of teaching which is essential for motivating students for research in mathematics. We hope that after attending this school, our participants would be able to motivate and encourage their students to study mathematics at higher level.
