The proposed Teacher’s Enrichment Workshop aims to introduce and explore fundamental ideas of Algebraic Topology and their modern applications in Topological Data Analysis (TDA) to college teachers,
research scholars, and interested postgraduate students. The workshop is based upon a strong vision to set up a bridge between classical topological concepts and contemporary data-driven applications.
The lectures will focus on topics such as fundamental groups, covering spaces, simplicial and singular homology, filtrations, and persistent homology, together with their role in understanding the shape and
structure of data. Emphasis will be given to intuitive examples, geometric understanding, and computational aspects that can be incorporated into undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
The objectives of this academic event are:
- To strengthen the foundational understanding of topology and algebraic topology among college and university teachers.
- To expose participants to emerging areas such as Topological Data Analysis and persistent homology, highlighting their applications in modern scientific research.
- To encourage interaction between classical mathematics and computational methods through lectures, tutorials, and discussions.
- To motivate young researchers and students to undertake reading projects and further study in topology, geometry, and data analysis in alignment with the NEP framework.
- To promote mathematical curiosity, problem-solving skills, and research-oriented learning at the UG and PG levels.
