TEWs are meant only for the local teachers and therefore no travel and other hospitalities will be provided to the outstation participants.

The Teacher Enrichment Workshop is an outreach activity of the National Centre for Mathematics, which is beneficial for the teachers at college level. This workshop aims at highlighting connections between Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus.Mathematics teachers from the colleges in the vicinity of Jammu will be introduced with some interesting aspects of Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus. It may be noted that the accommodation will not be provided to the participants.

  1. .Dinesh Khurana: Vector spaces and their basic properties,Linear Transformations and Matrices, Change of Basis, Triangulation and Diagonalization,Modules, Modules versus Vector Spaces, Free Modules, Matrices over PIDs, Smith Normal Form, Structure Thcorem for Finitcly Generated Modules over PlIDs and itsApplications.
  2. Jotsaroop Kaur: Review of Euclidean Spaces, Derivatives, Partial Derivatives and the Chain Rule, Mean Value Theorem, Taylor's Formula, Inverse and Implicit Function Theorems, Maxima and Minima, Method of Lagrange Multipliers.
  3.  Dr. Ved Prakash Gupta: Inner Product Spaces, Gram-Schmidt Procedure,Operators on Inner Product Spaces: Normal operator, Self-Adjoint Operator, Spectral Theorems, Singular Value Decomposition.
  4.  Vaibhav Vaish: Surfaces, Level surfaces, A need for the Implicit Function Theorem, Curvature of a curve, Devising notion of curvature for a surface and a need for Taylor's formula.

  2. Please confirm your participation by sending an email to ajay.kumar@iitjammu.ac.in/ tanmay.sarkar@iitjammu.ac.in by June 17, 2022. Otherwise, your selection may be cancelled.
  3. Travelling allowance will not be provided to the participants in Teachers' Enrichment Workshops. Outstation participants are requested to make their own arrangements. Local accommodation on a payment basis may be provided based on availability.
  4. Lunch and tea during lecture breaks will be offered to the participants during the workshop.
  5. Participants will have to attend the whole workshop and the requests for partial attendance will not be entertained. Certificates of participation will be issued only to the participants with full attendance.
  6. Participants are required to bring their own notebooks, textbooks and pens etc.
